Crêperie Carré

More Than a Café. More Than a Crêperie.

Our Story

Crêperie Carré was born from a passion for French cuisine, great coffee and the belief that good food deserves time, care and quality ingredients.

When we opened our doors in Munich-Berg am Laim in 2018, we wanted to create more than just a place for a quick bite. Carré was meant to be a place where people enjoy coming together – for breakfast, a good coffee, a relaxed lunch or simply a little break from everyday life.

At the heart of it all is Brittany – the home of traditional galettes and crêpes.

From Brittany to Munich

For us, authenticity means more than simply following a recipe.

In 2018, founder Sergiu Goinic completed professional training in the traditional crêpier craft at the École Maître Crêpier & Cuisinier in Rennes, Brittany.

There, he learned the traditional preparation of Breton galettes and French crêpes – from making the batters and working on the crêpe griddle to the techniques behind the craft of a traditional crêperie.

This knowledge became the foundation of Crêperie Carré and continues to shape the way we work today. Over the years, our recipes have evolved and many of our own creations have been added, but one thing has remained unchanged: our respect for the traditional craft.

Coffee Is a Craft Too

Our passion for craftsmanship doesn’t stop at crêpes and galettes.

Sergiu completed his first professional barista training at the Deutsche Baristaschule in Germany, followed by further specialty coffee training at Custom Coffee School in Kyiv.

Today, we work with carefully selected beans from the Swiss roastery Turm Kaffee and pay attention to every detail – from grind size and extraction to milk texture.

Our team also receives regular professional training, including courses at the Turm Kaffee Academy.

Because for us, a great cappuccino deserves just as much attention as a great galette.

Quality Ingredients & Gluten-Free Preparation

Great taste starts with good ingredients and careful preparation.

Our traditional Breton galettes are made with organic buckwheat flour. Buckwheat is naturally gluten-free, and every galette and crêpe is freshly prepared after you order.

For guests who need to avoid gluten, we can prepare both galettes and crêpes separately on a dedicated crêpe griddle upon request, helping to avoid direct contact with gluten-containing batter.

Just let our team know when ordering. We’ll be happy to provide more information about our ingredients and separate preparation process.

Hospitality Matters

For us, a good crêperie is about more than food and coffee. It’s also about how you feel when you’re there.

We want every guest to feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door – whether they have just discovered Carré or have been visiting us for years.

Many of our guests have become regulars, and some have been with us since we first opened in 2018.

Their trust means a lot to us.
